In a strategic move to bolster tourism ties between Vietnam and Singapore, national carrier Vietnam Airlines and Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) have inked a one-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in a collaboration that aims to enhance the appeal of Sentosa Island as a premier destination for inbound travellers.
Under the MoU, both Vietnam Airlines and SDC will collaborate closely to develop tourism products and promotional offerings. Notably, Vietnamese passengers flying with Vietnam Airlines to Singapore will receive complimentary admission to Sentosa Island, along with a free ticket to either the Wings of Time night show or the Sentosa Island intra-island cable car. Further extending these privileges, travellers will get to enjoy discounts on the Sentosa Fun Discovery Pass, granting access to a range of experiences and attractions across the island.
Mr. Dang Anh Tuan, Executive Vice President of Vietnam Airlines, expressed optimism about the partnership, stating, “The collaboration will leverage the strengths of Vietnam Airlines and SDC. Through this, we aim to not only bring exceptional benefits to travellers between Vietnam and Singapore but also to enhance the role of the national airline in fostering economic, commercial, and cultural exchanges between the two countries.”
Mr. Chin Sak Hin, Assistant Chief Executive and Chief Financial Officer of Sentosa Development Corporation, echoed the sentiment, saying, “We are pleased to collaborate with Vietnam Airlines, one of the top airlines in the region, to promote Sentosa and Singapore to Vietnamese travelers. Given the growth potential of the country, this Memorandum of Understanding offers tourists on Vietnam Airlines a host of privileges, including a complimentary ticket to one of our popular attractions, Wings of Time, an outdoor night show with laser effects and pyrotechnics, or a ride on our intra-island cable car.”
The partnership comes at a time when there has been a notable increase in visitor arrivals from Vietnam to Singapore. According to statistics by the Singapore Tourism Board, a year-on-year surge of 22% in visitor arrivals from Vietnam was recorded from April to November 2023. The signing of the MoU further emphasises the ongoing commitment to attract visitors from Vietnam and the region to Sentosa Island.
Vietnam Airlines presently operates direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to Singapore, with 28 flights per week. To kick off the partnership, Vietnam Airlines is offering early bird promotions for round-trip business class tickets to Singapore, available for purchase at least 7 days before the departure date.
