Partnership to facilitate sightseeing experiences for Chinese tourists across Go City’s platform

Go City, a multi-attraction pass provider, and Weixin Pay, a payment feature within the Weixin app, have formalised a collaboration with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Capitol Kempinski Hotel in Singapore.

For context, Go City is the largest multi-attraction pass company globally, operating in over 30 cities and partnering with over 1,500 attractions, tours, and activities worldwide. According to Go City, the focus of this partnership with Weixin Pay is to facilitate and focus on seamless sightseeing experiences for Chinese tourists across Go City’s portfolio.

Following the recent launch of their Weixin mini program in September, Go City reported significant revenue growth from Mainland Chinese customers. Dawn Jeremiah, Vice President, Marketing & Ecommerce for Go City, shared, “We’ve seen a 1.5x growth in September and October versus 2019 and a 2x growth this month versus 2019, particularly to Singapore, followed by London, Sydney, Bangkok, Oahu, New York, Barcelona, and Paris.” She continued, “This year’s Golden Week saw our pass volume sales grow to 4x, average basket size grow by 25%, and lower refund rates, all compared to that of 2019.”

Representing Go City, Neville Doe, Group Chief Financial Officer, and from Weixin Pay, Etienne Ng, Regional Director, Southeast Asia, were present at the signing ceremony. Doe expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting that the partnership with Weixin Pay is in-line with the company’s focus on enhancing travel experiences for its customers. “Together, we’re set to open up a world of fresh possibilities such as special deals and unique experiences for these travelers across Southeast Asia and beyond,” he said.

Etienne Ng echoed Doe, stating, “This partnership aligns with our aim to provide Chinese users with seamless and secure payment options, enriching their travel experience in Singapore and the rest of the region.”

Over the next three years, both entities will execute a joint marketing plan, allocating resources to elevate the usage of the Go City Weixin mini program and Weixin Pay.
